25% of the Goal!!! Get Happy!

Rach has been pedaling and running those miles... and today we woke up to a great surprise!  We've reached the 25% milestone for fundraising.  That means we're getting closer to Chicago and giving all my (animal) friends at ASPCA a voice to help prevent animal cruelty.

I've got to get Rach going this morning to go do her long run for the wkend.  Her miles are increasing along with everyone's support. Thank you!!

Great News!! We reached 11% of our GOAL!

First, Thank you - Meow!!

We're steadily increasing the help & love for the animals of ASPCA.  Every dollar helps just like every mile I run gets me ready for the Chicago Half Marathon.  Help me with DC Team ASPCA be the voice for all the animals of ASPCA.

Please consider donating to my Team ASPCA to help us fight animal cruelty. Thanks for your support!!

We had a great DC Team ASPCA run on Saturday... it was a beautiful day to be outside. Thanks to Coach Grigs for all the help & support she's providing us to be ready.

ASPCA scheduled a special photo-op for me - #1 Coach!

The photo-op is scheduled for this wkend!  What a busy wkend we're having already and it's only Saturday!  I'll share the best photo soon... so be sure to check out early next week!

Rach is on the run!

Rach & I drove up to New Jersey for Mother's Day weekend.  We arrived early Friday!  I took a nap while Rach visited with her family.  Then I woke her up early Saturday morning.  Well, I did let her sleep in a bit until 7am, opposed to the usual 4 or 430am!

She almost got out of running because she was invited to breakfast with her parents Saturday morning.  She passed on the breakfast invite, which her parents completely understood.

I was right there when Rach finished her run on Saturday.  Here's a picture of me greeting her at the door! Ok, so she came back to my room to get me to tell me the good news!  I still woke her up to go run... I'm such a good Coach!!

Quick Paws-t... every one counts!

I'm writing this post or as Slippers calls them "pawsts," before officially going all-out public.  I've decided to return to running and Slippers has a lot to do with it besides being my #1 Coach.  I've completed 2 Half Marathons with Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA)Team Challenge for personal reasons and now would like to run for those without a voice... the cats, dogs, hamsters, birds, and pets of America that suffer or need our help to live quality lives.

I selected Slippers as my Coach, not because she's my cat, but because she reminds me that I should wake up every morning... even though it's 4 or 430am... and be thankful and happy we have a warm & safe place to live.  Not everyone (including those cats, dogs, hamsters, and pets of America) does.

This morning, I woke up and chose to run instead of bike to work... that is run before going to work.  I'm going to gradually increase my running distance and endurance so I'm ready for July 22, 2012 to run those 13.1 miles in Chicago.  Cheer me on as I take this journey... let's not let Slippers or those cats, dogs, hamsters, and pets of America.  Let's help ASPCA give them their voice to be heard.

The flyer arrived in the mail...

Last month, Rach & I received a flyer in the mail introducing us to the idea of training with Team ASPCA.  I know Rach has run with Team Challenge supporting the personal charity of Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA).  She ran the Miami ING Half Marathon back in 2009 raising funds for CCFA.
Now it's my turn!  NO! I'm not running... but coaching Rach so she can help all my friends at ASPCA.
ASPCA is the first humane society to be established in North America and is, today, one of the largest in the world!!  It was founded by Henry Bergh all the way back in 1866, based on the belief that animals are entitled to kind and respectful treatment at the hands of humans, and must be protected under the law.
So to this day, ASPCA provides the following 3 important things to animals:
1. Caring for pet parents & pets
2. Positive outcomes for at-risk animals
3. Serving victims of animal cruelty.
Follow me on this blog, as I coach Rach to run the Chicago Half Marathon.  I'll provide updates of her progress running, as well as, her ASPCA fundraising.  Be sure to check out our ASPCA Fundraising Website!   CLICK HERE.
